Autoclave Import Documents: A Distributor Checklist
Distributor buying guide · Updated 22 September 2026
Before importing autoclaves, request a document set tied to the exact manufacturer, model, configuration and destination. Check that the information is consistent across the quotation, product label, operating instructions and applicable regulatory documents. A generic certificate pack is not a substitute for a market-specific review.
Prepare a model-by-model document register
| Document group | What to request | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Manufacturer details, model designation and label sample | Company names, model numbers and responsible parties |
| Technical | Specification sheet, instructions and accessory list | Voltage, chamber, permitted loads, configuration and language |
| Market access | Applicable declarations, certificates and registration information | Scope, issuing body, validity and applicability to your destination |
| Service | Maintenance instructions and proposed warranty terms | Responsibilities, exclusions and available support materials |
| Shipment | Commercial invoice, packing details and agreed shipping documents | Quantities, model identifiers, weights and delivery terms |
Define the destination before requesting compliance documents
The document set depends on the market and intended use. The European Commission identifies distinct responsibilities for manufacturers, authorised representatives, importers and distributors under the EU medical device regulations. Determine which role your business will perform before finalizing the purchasing process. See the European Commission’s economic-operator guidance.
For the United States, review the FDA’s medical-device import guidance. Establishment registration or device listing does not itself mean FDA approval, as stated in the FDA registration and listing database. Do not treat those records as interchangeable with the applicable product authorization.
Check consistency, not just the presence of a PDF
Record the document title, revision, date, covered model and reviewer. Investigate mismatches in company names, model suffixes or electrical configurations. Where a certificate applies, verify its scope and status with the relevant issuer or official source. Ask the supplier to explain unresolved differences in writing.
Plan for labels, language and product changes
Confirm which labels and instructions are required for your destination, who prepares translations and who checks them. If you request private labeling or other modifications, review the associated responsibilities before approving artwork. Keep a process for obtaining updated documents when the product changes.
Does this checklist establish import eligibility?
No. It organizes a supplier review; it is not a complete legal checklist or confirmation that a specific RUNDA model can be sold in a particular market. Have the exact product and destination assessed by the responsible regulatory professional before placing an import order.
Request a focused documentation review
Send the destination country, intended model and configuration, intended use and documents your local adviser has requested. Start with the product catalog or our distributor cooperation page.
